This life in pictures.

Challenge Accepted

I finally just uploaded my entries into the photo contest being sponsored by the Cumberland Conservation Commission and The Valley Breeze newspaper. The premise was to showcase nature in Cumberland, RI in March and April. Let me reiterate, nature… in Cumberland, RI… in March and April… Needless to say, the pickings were rather slim. Cumberland has far more residential pileups and Industrial eyesores than actual greenways, but there is one nice strip running straight through the middle of town. Unfortunately, most of it is private property! Also, the contest ended before spring really got into full swing. The Commission was good enough to extend the contest an extra weekend to try to make up for the late blooms, but half that weekend was rainy and the other half was Easter, so I didn’t get back out. Whatever, my shots were in the can already.

Anyway, here’s what I entered:

"Monastic Mallard"

"Bluejay Surprise"

"Blackstone Waterfowl"

Normally, I would have done something more dramatic with the processing on these, but the rules were pretty strictly worded against any editing beyond cropping and basic exposure changes. Click the link to my Flickr page to see the drama.
